Rafting & Reserva

by dangelo on January 16th, 2013

We got more of the Costa Rican experience as we went water rafting on the Tenorio river! I could not believe how quickly our tour guide spotted the creatures that lived around the river or flew above it. We saw green and brown iguanas from tiny ones that fit comfortably on the tree branches to large ones that took over rocks on the riverbed. We saw a baby crocodile, howler monkeys, sleeping bats, and many different types of birds including turkey vultures and plants.

We took the Tenorio river to a point where it joined another river and we got stuck momentarily in very gentle rapids. I had a lot of fun seeing all the nature around us and having a more relaxed activity for the day. I certainly am becoming more than just a city girl after this trip!

After the rafting, we went to Las Pumas Reserva which is a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center. The animals and birds were beautiful and I was lucky enough to get some pretty good pictures. We got to see a toucan, macaw, a puma, jaguar, and howler monkey that reminded me of Jack the monkey from Pirates of the Caribbean.
