I’m dropping by with a quick post this week. Last Monday, SB SHINE (the club I am current president of) hosted our first SHINE Gala. The event was free (but we accepted donations at the entrance).
The event was meant to raise awareness of our organization and raise funds for our upcoming mentorship project with Little Flower Children and Family Services in Wading Rivers, NY.
It was a great event since we had over 20 entrees of food. The coolest thing was that we didn’t pay a dime- we were fortunate that over 2 dozen restaurants were able to donate food.
Worth mentioning, the super busy Anna Lubitz took time out to sing the national anthem for the event. She was wonderful!
The only down side of the event was that with 300 seating capacity and 120 people in the audience, we kind of looked empty. Either way, it was great we rasied $120 and most importantly, we did not pay for anything! We look forward to continuing great events and informing SBU students about our organization.
Till later, peace.
