Swagger in the Summer: Stony Brook Film Festival
I would like to take this time to formally introduce myself. My name is Anna Lubitz. I will be a senior at Stony Brook this upcoming fall semester. Whether you are returning to Stony Brook University, or you are just about to embark on your first year at the “Brook,” I want to encourage you to get involved, take chances, and develop yourself as a Seawolf during your time here at SBU!
I started my academic career at SBU in the fall of 2010. I am currently in the process of finishing up my Biology major and Music (vocal performance) minor. Some fun facts about me… I am a HUGE Seawolves fan, one of my favorite colors is RED, and my favorite word is PASSION. I personally think that the last fact has major importance, especially as a Stony Brook student! If you did not already know, Stony Brook University is ranked as one of the best universities in the world, especially for research and medical advancements. However, Stony Brook offers a diverse range of beneficial opportunities to its population of students!
My college experience has been enhanced in many different ways by getting involved with campus initiatives and clubs/organizations. In fact, I was able to participate at the 18th Annual Stony Brook Film Festival, held in the famous Staller Center! I have always had an interest in film and theater, and when I volunteered at the film festival this past July, I learned so much more in the field of acting and film making. I was able to ask the directors and actors questions pertaining to the films I watched as well. Not only did Stony Brook’s Staller Center feature amazing films that intrigued diverse audiences, but my experience of helping out and contributing to one of Stony Brook’s acclaimed traditions made me very proud to be a Seawolf!
And so, even during the hot, dog days of summer session classes, Stony Brook University is able to show off its swagger, especially when hosting fantastic events like the Stony Brook Film Festival! Overall, I hope you have a fantastic rest of the summer! Stay tuned in to hear more about involvement opportunities at Stony Brook University- I’ll be sure to post a lot about them as they arise!
